Report: Egypt troops kill 1, arrest 16 during Sinai clash

One person was killed and 16 others were arrested in Sinai on Monday as part of raid launched by Egyptian troops and policemen, state television said, according to AFP.
The incident comes a day after Egypt launched a massive military operation to stop al-Qaida and Beduin terrorists and to restore order to the Sinai Peninsula, which fell into anarchy following the revolution in the country earlier this year.
The Egyptian troops exchanged fire with the al-Qaida suspects wanted by authorities, an official said. "Ten people suspected of involvement in the Sinai attacks were arrested," the official said, adding that three automatic rifles and four grenades were also seized, AFP said.
