Blood feud toll climbs to six as father and son gunned down outside Deir al-Assad

A deadly blood feud took two more victims Wednesday morning, when a father and son were gunned down in their car outside the Arab village of Deir al-Asad in northern Israel.
The father and son, aged 50 and 25, are among 6 members of the same family murdered in recent years in the blood feud. All six victims are from the village of Bi’ne next to Deir al-Asad. Prosecutors managed to indict three people for one of the murders earlier this year, but the rest are considered unsolved.
The father and son – who were not named at press time – were sitting in their car at the Deir al-Asad junction when they were gunned down by a shooter in a passing vehicle, who fled the scene. They were both taken to Nahariya Hospital in critical condition, and were ruled dead just after arrival.
Police have made no arrests so far, and have tasked the district’s special investigative unit with the case. Police said they believe the killings may be linked to the feud, but that the investigation has just begun.
