Report: Hamas, Fatah in Cairo to discuss new gov't creation

Fatah and Hamas delegations on Monday were expected to discuss the recently signed reconciliation deal between them at an Egyptian-supervised meeting in Cairo, Al Ahram newspaper reported.
The delegations, head by Fatah Central Committee member Azzam al-Ahmad and Hamas deputy politburo chief Moussa Abu Marzouk, are due to focus on the formation of a joint government.
A senior Egyptian official quoted by Al Ahram said the delegations will have the right to choose their nominees for the premiership with the final choice to be made based on consensus.
Once agreement on the names has been reached, the official said, Hamas and Fatah will meet with other factions in the West Bank and Gaza in order to approve the formation of the new government.
