Report indicates uptick in gender inequality in Israel

Gender inequality in Israel has increased this past year, according to the World Economic Forum 2014 Gender Gap report released on Tuesday.
While Israel remained the top ranking country in the region, followed by Kuwait with a ranking of 113, it dropped 12 spots from last year to receive an overall rating of 65, with a score of 0.700 (where 0 reflects inequality and 1 represents complete equality among genders). The Global Gender Gap report aims to reveal the magnitude of gender-based disparities and track their progress over time. The report ranks individual countries and provides global and regional comparisons in four categories:  economic participation and opportunity, educational attainment, health and survival, and political empowerment.
