A close aide and former chief of staff of ousted Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak was sentenced to seven years in prison for corruption charges by a Cairo criminal court on Sunday, AFP quoted a judicial source as saying.
The court also ordered Zakaria Azmi to pay 38 million Egyptian pounds ($6.2 million), according to the report.Mubarak himself faces sentencing on June 2, accused of ordering the killing of protesters in Tahrir Square, a charge he denies.
