Report: US promised to release Pollard after 10-year term

In the 1980s the US promised Israel that it would pardon Jonathan Pollard after a 10-year prison term but ultimately did not keep the promise, Army Radio reported Monday.

Senior officials who served at the Foreign Ministry at the time told Army Radio that the promise was kept secret for many years and at the time, was given verbally by US legal officials.

Following these recent developments, Pollard's attorney contacted US President Barack Obama and officially requested a presidential pardon.
