Report: West aims to resume Iran nuclear talks by August

The US along with its European allies aim to press for the resumption of nuclear negotiations with Tehran by August, to test the influence of Iran's new president, Hassan Rohani on Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, The Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday.
According to the report, the Obama administration and Brussels intend to determine whether Rohani's surprise win will have any effect on shifting Khameni's position on the nuclear issue or relations with the West.
US President Barack Obama's chief of staff said on Sunday the election of Iranian President Hassan Rohani was a "potentially hopeful sign," and that if he lived up to his obligation "to come clean on this illicit nuclear program, he will find a partner in us."
