Rivlin attends funeral of Singapore's founding father, first Prime Minister

President Rueven Rivlin attended Sunday the funeral of Lee Kuan Yew, founding father and first prime minister of  Singapore. His visit was the first of an Israeli head of state since 1986.
During his visit, the president met with senior officials of the Singapore government, David Johnston, the Governor-General of Canada, Jerry Mateparae, the Governor-General of New Zealand, and Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India.
Addressing Israel-India relations, Rivlin told Modi: "The excellent relations between our countries are based upon strong foundations, two states which share common values, and are first and foremost, thriving democracies.” The two spoke of strengthening bilateral relations and deepening agriculture, science, and energy cooperation.
