Rivlin boosts morale of haredi soldiers

President Reuven Rivlin visited the IDF's ultra-Orthodox (haredi) Netzah Yehudah battalion on Tuesday.

The president told the soldiers: “You are among the best of our sons. You defend us on the front lines, and we have to defend you on the home front.”

It is untenable, he said “that when you come home to your neighborhoods that someone should dare to raise a hand against you.”

Several of the soldiers told Rivlin of the special challenges they face since joining the army against the wishes of most of the people in their society.
