Rivlin: Netanyahu is not trying to stall for time with peace talks

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is serious about reaching a peace deal with the Palestinians, and is not trying to stall for time, Likud MK Reuven Rivlin said in an interview to Mexican state television during a visit to the country.
"The prime minister is acting as a statesman, not as a politician, on this matter, and intends to hold real negotiations that would examine whether there is a chance of reaching an accord," Rivlin said.
On Syria, the Likud MK said Israel will continue staying out of the civil war in the country.
"We do not express our preference on the results of the conflict, though we do know [Syrian President Bashar] Assad and we cannot know who will succeed him."
