Rivlin: Turkey deal made in consideration of Israel's national interest

President Reuven Rivlin welcomed the forging of reconciled relations between Israel and Turkey on Monday, saying the two nations have a "promising future of cooperation."
Addressing those who opposed the deal to mend a six-year rift between Ankara and Jerusalem, Rivlin said the accord was cemented in the nation's interest.
"I understand those in Israel who oppose this agreement and I understand that some citizens may feel hurt as a result," he said "However, our selected leadership is charged with looking out for Israel's national interest, and that is what it was doing by singing this agreement."
