Russia praises Iran's willingness to meet world powers on nuclear issue

Russia said that Iran was prepared for "constructive talks" regarding its disputed nuclear program next month, according to a statement on Tuesday from the Russian Foreign Ministry. "The Iranian package reflects a desire to have deep and constructive talks" with six world powers, according to Andrei Nesterenko, a ministry spokesman, he was referring to the proposals submitted by Iran last week. The statement said Iran's gesture to the six nations - the US, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany - was "positive and encouraging." Representatives of the six nations are scheduled to meet with Iranian nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili on October 1.
