Russian FM says attacks on Gaddafi not backed by UN

MOSCOW - Russia said on Monday that attacks on forces loyal to Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi amounted to intervention in a civil war on the side of rebels and were not backed by the UN Security Council resolution.
"We consider that intervention by the coalition in what is essentially an internal civil war is not sanctioned by the UN Security Council resolution," Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told a news conference.
