Saudi gov't sentences man to 6 years for Christianity

The Saudi government sentenced a Lebanese man to six years in prison and 300 lashes for assisting a Saudi woman in her effort to convert to Christianity, AFP reported on Sunday.
The same court imprisoned a Saudi man to two years and 200 lashes for helping the young woman flee Saudi Arabia, according to the report.
The woman, who escaped to Sweden and secured asylum, is referred to as "the girl of Khobar," a Saudi city on the Persian Gulf.
In a YouTube video, she said she decided to convert to Christianity.
A US government religious commission report deemed Saudi Arabia to be one of the top 15 country violators of religious freedom. Saudi Arabia bars the practice of non-Islamic faiths.
