'Serial' podcast subject seeks new trial

The man at the center of a popular "Serial" podcast appeared in a Baltimore court on Wednesday to argue that he deserves a new trial.
Thirty-five year-old Adnan Syed, convicted for the murder of his 18-year-old ex-girlfriend in 2000, gained huge attention after the "Serial" podcast was downloaded more than 68 million times..
Now, Asia McClain Chapman, a high school classmate of Syed's, testified that she had never been asked about a potential alibi by Syed's former attorney, who is now deceased.
She told the show's producers she had seen Syed at the library the day of the murder, raising new questions about his case.
His new attorney alleges he received "ineffective assistance by trial counsel," thus warranting a new trial.
