Shaked: Katsav pardon process frozen

Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked on Tuesday told Ynet News that former president Moshe Katsav's pardon request before her and President Reuvin Rivlin has been frozen due to his mid-May appeal to get an early release through the courts. She said that a pardon request cannot be reviewed while a court appeal is pending.
His appeal was against an April parole board decision against him getting an early release from his seven-year prison sentence for rape.
The former president was convicted of two counts of rape, one count of committing an indecent act using force, one count of committing an indecent act, two counts of sexual harassment, one count of harassing a witness and one count of obstructing justice. He entered Ma’asiyahu Prison in Ramle in December 2011.
