Shas’ Nahari sworn back into Knesset after Guetta departure

The Knesset convened during its recess to swear in Meshulam Nahari as an MK for Shas and deputy interior minister on Wednesday. Nahari re-entered the Knesset after Shas lawmaker Yigal Guetta resigned last week rather than give in to pressure to apologize for attending his gay nephew’s wedding. Nahari had resigned from the Knesset under the “Mini-Norwegian Law,” which allows one minster or deputy minister per party to resign, but return if the party leaves the coalition or one of its MKs departs.
The procedure in the law required Nahari to step down as deputy interior minister and be sworn in again.
