Shin Bet arrests Fatah member accused of West Bank stone-throwing attacks

Israel security agencies have arrested a West Bank man on suspicion of involvement in terror attacks in recent weeks against the West Bank settlement of Tekoa.

Ihab Salame Daoud Alsaibat, 45, a member of the Fatah from the Palestinian town of Beit Sahour, was arrested in a joint operation of the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency), IDF and Israel Police for throwing bricks at Israeli cars while he was driving, damaging a number of vehicles. According to the Shin Bet, in several instances where Israeli vehicles were not damaged, Alsaibat turned his car around to throw more bricks.

According to the Shin Bet, further attacks had been prevented as more bricks which Alsaibat had intended to throw were found by security forces in his car. His car was seized by the security forces during the arrest.

“Such incidents of throwing stones at people or cars, with an emphasis of throwing stones from a moving vehicle, entail a real risk to human life and is an act of terror,” read the statement from the Shin Bet.
