The sixth annual Negev Conference opened in Sderot on Tuesday morning, and was set to address the economic development of the Negev. Other topics of discussion were to include: The Negev as an engine of growth for Israel, the economic development for relocating IDF bases to the South, the construction of factories and hi-tech companies in the Negev and the establishment of three new industrial parks in the southern desert region. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu was scheduled to address the summit.
