Social workers to stage 1-day strike in protest of violence

The Israel Association of Social Workers announced Sunday that all welfare offices across the country would be closed to the public on Monday in protest of violence against social workers.
The decision came in the wake of an incident in the northern town of Sakhnin on Saturday in which a social worker and her family were physically attacked by three men who were upset that their sister had been placed in an emergency shelter for victims of violence.
The Knesset Labor, Welfare and Health Committee was scheduled to hold an emergency meeting on the social workers' request for better protection on Monday.
