Some 30 left-wing activists were arrested on Friday after they tried to hold a protest in Sheikh Jarrah against the evictions of Arabs illegally living in Jewish-owned homes there.
Six of the activists were arrested on Jerusalem's Hanevi'im Street on suspicion of conducting an unauthorized march toward the neighborhood.
Police demanded that the marchers disperse, but when they refused, six of them were arrested.
Several activists did manage to reach the neighborhood, and 27 of them were arrested when they refused to leave.
Police remained in Sheikh Jarrah in order to prevent additional protests.
