Some 300,000 visit nat'l parks for Independence Day

Some 300,000 Israelis basked in Thursday's sunny weather taking outdoor trips to national parks and heritage sites to celebrate Independence Day, the Israel Nature and Parks Authority reported.
The sites that attracted the strongest number of visitors were Ashkelon's national parks, Yarkon-Tel Ofek park, Massada and Park Eshkol near Ofakim in the South.
Of those that visited the nation's preserved locations, 100,000 visited sites that require an entrance, while the rest preferred to enter Israeli sites that are free of charge.
