Special forces arrest Palestinian suspected of deadly ramming attack

Special forces arrested a Palestinian resident of Dhahiriya in the West Bank overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday who is suspected of carrying out a deadly ramming attack on Israeli civilian Avraham Hasno last October.
Hasno was run over by a Palestinian driver at Fawer junction near Hebron on October 20, after exiting his vehicle during a disturbance.
The driver then turned himself in to Palestinian police, and remained in a PA police station in Dhahiriya, 23 km.
southwest of Hebron, until his release in recent days.
“He was arrested by our forces following an intensive intelligence operation,” the Shin Bet said, adding that the arrest was carried out by a joint Shin Bet and Duvdevan elite unit force.
The suspect has been taken in for questioning.
Also on Wednesday, a Palestinian terrorist armed with a knife attempted to stab soldiers stationed at a checkpoint at the entrance to Zawiya in the West Bank.
Soldiers fired on and struck the attacker, killing him. There were no injuries to security forces.
Zawiya, southeast of Kalkilya, and Hajja are the two villages that were home to the terrorists who carried out two stabbing attacks in Israel on Tuesday, in Petah Tikva and Jaffa.
The IDF has placed both Palestinian villages under closure, allowing movement in and out of them only for humanitarian reasons.
