State Department rejects report that Kerry proposed Israel visit after elections

The US State Department on Monday rejected an Israeli media report that US Secretary of State John Kerry had requested to visit Israel after its March 17 election.
State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf clarified on Twitter that the top US diplomat had never intended to travel to Israel until a new coalition was formed.
Harf's remarks came a day after Channel 2 reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had rejected a proposal from Kerry to visit following Israel's election and told him instead to come only after the new government was instated.
According to the Channel 2 report, Kerry proposed that he would visit the Jewish state immediately after Israel's general election in order to advance various regional issues.
