State media: Syria's Assad reappoints Halaqi as PM

BEIRUT - Syrian President Bashar Assad has reappointed Wael al-Halaqi as prime minister and asked him to form a cabinet, state media reported on Sunday.
Assad was sworn in for a new term as president last month, requiring him to form a new government. Halaqi was appointed in 2012 after his predecessor, Riad Hijab, fled Syria to join the opposition.
Assad had asked Halaqi to form a new government, state media reported.
