Steinitz slams Dankner over comments on high food prices

Businessman Nochi Dankner came under fire from Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz on Tuesday for comments regarding necessary government regulation of basic food commodities in order to lower prices, Channel 2 news reported. Dankner reportedly said that the government should lower VAT on staple foodstuffs, and that retail stores should also lower the prices of some 12 to 20 products.
Steinitz took offense to Dankner's offer, saying "I ask Dankner not to give advice to the government on how to run the nation. It's unacceptable for me that businessmen would give advice to the government.
Dankner owns IDB, one of the owners of the Shupersal Supermarket chain.
