Student stabbed to death in brawl at New York state's Cornell University

NEW YORK - A college student died of stab wounds early on Sunday and a second was injured when a brawl broke out on Cornell University's campus in the upstate New York town of Ithaca, a week after the fall semester began, officials said.
Both victims were students at Ithaca College, just 2 miles south of Cornell. They were stabbed during a "large fight" around 2 a.m., according to a statement from Ithaca College's president posted on the school's website.
The student killed was a 19-year-old from Brooklyn, New York, the police chief for the town of Ithaca, John Barber, said in an email.
The student was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The second victim was released after being flown to another hospital and treated for several stab wounds, police said.
