Study: Blood test can predict Alzheimer's

American researchers say that have developed a prototype blood test that can whether a person will develop Alzheimer's disease with 90 percent accuracy, according to AFP.
The blood test looks for 10 signatures of lipids, or fatty proteins, and is the first blood "biomarker" to predict the disease, according to a study published in Nature Medicine on Sunday.

The test could help the families of people developing the disorder to make early care decisions, and may also help in finding treatment, AFP reported.
Alzheimer's disease is caused by toxic proteins that destroy brain cells, and is currently an incurable and terminal degenerative disease that affects around 35 million people.
