Suicide car bomber kills 9 north of Baghdad

BAGHDAD — Iraqi police and hospital officials said a suicide attacker detonated a car bomb at a police station in the northern city of Samarra, killing nine police officers.
The officials said at least 19 people were also wounded in Monday's attack.
The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to brief the media.
Samarra has been a flash point city ever since a 2006 attack by al-Qaida destroyed part of the golden-domed mosque in the city revered by Shiites.
