On Tuesday the remand of two suspects - ages 52 and 25 - were extended for nine days in the Rishon Lezion Magistrates Court, in the connection with the murder of Dua’a Abu Sharkh, 32, who was murdered on Friday
in front of her four children.
One of the suspects is Abu Sharkh’s ex-husband, 52, who according to family members of Abu Sharkh had a history of abuse. Three of Abu Sharkh’s brothers - ages 19, 24, and 36 - who are also being investigated in the murder were released to a five-day house arrest.According to the police investigation, masked gunmen approached Abu Sharkh’s car around 8 p.m.
and shot her at close range. She had just finished a visit with her children – ages four, five, 11 and 12.
The visit had been prearranged with her husband, from whom she had been separated for three years. Abu Sharkh was taken to the Assaf Harofeh Medical Center near Lod with a critical head injury, where she was pronounced dead. Abu Sharhk’s family vehemently protested the arrest of her three brothers contending that they are innocent.
