Swiss diplomats ask Iran about missing Americans

Foreign diplomats have begun to intervene on behalf of the Americans who were detained by Iran after crossing into the country while hiking on the Iraqi border. According to the spokeswoman at the Swiss embassy in Teheran, Nadine Olivieri, Swiss diplomats have inquired from the Iranian Foreign Ministry into the fate of the detainees. Iran state TV reported on Sunday that Iranian guards detained the three American tourists Friday after they allegedly crossed the border from northern Iraq. Switzerland has represented US interests in Iran for 30 years, and the State Department asked it to intervene in this case.
