Syria open to talks with opposition with no preconditions

Syrian President Bashar Assad's regime is willing to engage in negotiations with members of the opposition in the country, but without preconditions, AFP quoted Syrian Information Minister Omrane Zohbi as saying on Friday.
"The door is open, welcome to any Syrian who wants to have dialogue with us ... but if someone comes to me and says 'I want to talk about this issue or I'll kill you', that's not a dialogue ... there must be no preconditions," he stated.
The Syrian National Coalition has stated in the past that any dialogue with the regime would have to be based on the premise that Assad would leave power.
