Syrian opposition denies Assad regime claim that rebels used chemical weapons

The Syrian National Coalition denied on Saturday accusations made by the Syrian government that rebel forces used chemical weapons in an attack on an east Damascus suburb overnight Wednesday, AFP reported.
"The National Coalition totally rejects the lies from the [President Bashar] Assad regime and considers them a desperate bid to divert attention from its repeated crimes and methods against Syrian civilians," the opposition said.
It stressed that the Assad regime is "the only party in Syria which possesses the means to produce, use and stock chemical weapons."
The opposition added that it was trying to obtain satellite images to prove the regim's use of chemical arms.
