Tamar 1 gas site 16% larger than estimated

The amount of natural gas at the Tamar 1 reserve is 16 percent higher than previously estimated, it was announced Tuesday. Measurements taken by an external company involved in the drilling showed there to be 207 billion cubic meters of natural gas in the offshore reserve site in the Mediterranean Sea. In July, Delek Group chairman Yitzhak Tshuva said that his company had underestimated the capacity of the Tamar 2 natural gas site after results showed that the natural gas prospect offshore from Haifa was 26 percent larger than previously estimated. Tshuva's Delek group, which operates the prospect with a 15.625% interest announced the largest natural gas find in Israel's history at the Tamar site in January.
