Technion to award honorary doctorate to Michael Bloomberg

The Technion-Israel Institute of Technology announced on Wednesday that it will award an honorary doctorate to former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
The degree will be awarded to him in “recognition of his vision and initiative, which brought the Technion to New York, and for his role in shaping a real revolution of the education system in his city.”
“To establish a world class research institute requires a leader with long term vision and perspective as Michael Bloomberg had for the Technion.  We are proud to celebrate his accomplishments. Thanks to the vision of Bloomberg the Technion and Cornell University will train the next generation of leaders, develop technologies and innovative solutions for the benefit of all humanity and will position New York at the forefront of the world in the 21st century and beyond,” said Technion President Peretz Lavie.
Bloomberg will receive the award on March 15 by the American Technion Society at a ceremony hosted by journalist Charlie Rose at the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan.
