Tel Aviv court bars former Bat Yam mayor convicted of bribery from politics

Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court on Tuesday sentenced former Bat Yam mayor Shlomi Lahiani to six months of community service and declared that his conviction for bribery constituted a crime of moral turpitude.

The significance of the ruling is that Lahiani is barred from resuming his political career for the next seven years.
