Tel Aviv mayor Huldai slams Herzog

Tel Aviv mayor Ron Huldai, who is considering challenging Zionist Union head Isaac Herzog for the Labor Party leadership, attacked his performance as head of the opposition Wednesday. "Unfortunately the opposition led by the Zionist Union right now is weak and not fighting," Huldai told Army Radio.

"It is unwilling to tell the truth. It does not criticize enough and says Amen too much."

Without mentioning him by name, Huldai said Herzog was not critical enough of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on security issues, the economy, and the lack of basic food items on the shelves during the holidays. The mayor said he had not made a final decision yet on whether to enter the race.

The Zionist Union responded that they were indeed a fighting opposition, reminding the Tel Aviv mayor that its MKs attack the government in general and Netanyahu in particular every day.
