Thief steals reparations money from Holocaust survivor

The Southern District Attorney's Office filed an indictment with the Beersheba District Court on Sunday against Carlos Santana for stealing Holocaust reparation money from a Holocaust survivor on Holocaust Memorial Day.
M.G., 89, a Holocaust survivor, went to a Bank Hapoalim branch in Ashdod on April 8, Holocaust Memorial Day.
M.G., and his wife, S.G., also a survivor, whose names are under a gag order, are entitled to reparation payments from Germany relating to their experiences during the Holocaust and withdrew NIS 10,000.
Not long after M.G. withdrew funds from the bank and after the siren for Holocaust Memorial Day, Santana came up to M.G. from behind and said "quiet or I will stab you."
Santana stole M.G.'s money from his pocket and then ran away.
The state is seeking to remand Santana to police custody until the end of the proceedings.
