'Thousands of Israelis have probably caught swine flu without knowing'

Thousands of Israelis have most probably been infected with swine flu and mistaken it for regular flu, Health Ministry Director-General Prof. Avi Yisraeli told Israel Radio on Sunday. Such people would most likely have suffered mild symptoms such as "a bit of a fever, and slight shortness of breath," he said. Yisraeli also noted that children and young adults up to the age of 21 who had contracted swine flu tended have symptoms very similar to the regular flu, and that people aged 60 and above were less likely to contract the H1N1 virus. The director-general reiterated previous advice to the public to "beware of hygiene as much as possible," by washing hands often, and staying home from work or school if ill.
