Three policemen indicted for aggravated assault in Rishon Lezion

The Justice’s Ministry’s Police Investigations Department filed charges against a detective and two other officers in the Rishon Lezion Magistrate’s Court on Sunday.

Detective Gilad Peretz and officers Arik Fischakob and Gregory Fischov, all from the Central District police, are suspected of aggravated assault leading to injury of a nonthreatening detainee and obstructing police investigations.

According to a complaint filed in April 2015, Peretz, Fischov and another unnamed officer, who is a witness in the case, approached a man sitting in an illegally parked vehicle in Rishon Lezion. The officers asked the man to provide identification. However, he had none in his possession. From there the events escalated and Peretz is alleged to have threatened the man stating, “I will teach you how to treat a Central District police officer, I will shame you, I will destroy your name.” Peretz then told the complainant that he would be taken to the Rishon Lezion police station.

The civilian was then put in the back of the police vehicle, where Peretz allegedly assaulted him on the way to the station.

According to the indictment, Peretz punched the man and attacked him with a hammer, shattering his hand and knee. Peretz then allegedly told Fischov to handcuff the man and place him under arrest for assaulting a police officer. After arriving at the police station, Peretz allegedly again beat the man, while Fischov and Fischakob watched.
