Tirkel Commission approves new Shin Bet chief

The appointments commission headed by former judge Yaakov Tirkel approved Nadav Argaman as the next head of the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) on Monday.
The commission met with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and the outgoing Shin Bet chief, Yoram Cohen, as well as with Argaman to update them on the decision.
Netanyahu appointed Argaman last month. Argaman, 55, will become the 13th head of the internal security service, succeeding outgoing Yoram Cohen. Argaman is a product of the agency’s operations and signal intelligence, serving in its ranks for more than 30 years.
