Top Hamas official expects Gaza cease-fire talks to resume within week

Israel and Hamas will resume their indirect negotiations for a long-term cease-fire in the Gaza Strip sometime before the Rosh Hashanah holiday, a top Hamas official said on Thursday.
Moussa Abu Marzuk said that negotiators for both sides will meet with Egyptian mediators in Cairo for further discussions.
Abu Marzuk said that the task of rebuilding Gaza’s civilian infrastructure will be a joint undertaking that will involve the United Nations, the Palestinian Authority unity government, and Israel.
“There will be inspectors and plans in place to bring building material [into the Gaza Strip],” Abu Marzuk said.
