Total of 515,000 children vaccinated against polio out of one million

The national oral polio vaccination campaign has passed the half mark, with 515,000 children up to the age of 10 vaccinated out of a total of one million, the Health Ministry said on Tuesday. About 50,000 of them were vaccinated on that day.
The ministry had thought that it would take three months to reach the target since the campaign began on August 5 -- but at this rate, it will take considerably less time at tipat halav (well-baby) centers.
The ministry was also  informed that wild polio virus was found before the vaccination campaign at the waste-treatment plant in Nahil Irron (Wadi Ara) -- the most northern point so far.
