Tourism Ministry: 3.45m. tourists came to Israel in 2010

Nearly 3.5 million tourists visited Israel in 2010, breaking a record for incoming tourism, according to a statement released Monday on tourism statistics for 2010.
The statement, released by the Tourism Ministry, said 2010 saw a 26 percent increase in visitors compared to 2009, and 14% more than in 2008.
Of the 3.45 million visitors, 2.8 million were tourists who stayed more than one night, was was also a record breaking number.
The statement said that there was an upward trend that began in October 2009 and continued into 2010, with nearly every subsequent month since then registering another record for the number of visitors.
Like in previous years, tourists from the US remained the largest group of visitors coming to Israel, with 625,000 arriving in 2010.
