Transportation minister considers raising driving age from 17 to 19

Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz said Tuesday that he was considering raising the minimum driving age from 17 to 19. He said that the high rate of car accidents among young drivers was a result of "lack of skill." "We are a young country, and do not have a driving tradition," he said during a Knesset Economics Committee meeting on the effects of alcohol on young drivers.
