Trump, Jordan's king speak by phone ahead of US president's Mideast visit

US President Donald Trump and Jordan's King Abdullah spoke by phone on Tuesday ahead of the American leader's upcoming visit to the Middle East.According to a White House statement, the two discussed efforts to find a resolution to end the raging bloodshed in Syria along with joint operations in the fight against the extremist group Islamic State.Trump also expressed the importance for the United States of close, continued bilateral relations with the Hashemite kingdom.
