NEW YORK -- Donald J. Trump has attracted 19% of Jewish American voters to his campaign, according to an American Jewish Committee poll released on Wednesday, compared to 61% supporting Hillary Clinton. The poll– the only one of its kind that has gauged Jewish voters nationwide this election season– showed consistent support for Clinton. But 9% of those polled said they will vote third party this election, for either Libertarian Gary Johnson or Jill Stein of the Green Party, and 8% polled said they will not vote at all. A majority of Jewish Americans– 73%– characterized the US-Israel relationship as in either 'very good' or 'fairly good' shape, and that same number considers antisemitism in the US either a 'very serious problem' or 'somewhat of a problem.' Roughly 58% said that Clinton would do better than Trump in handling terrorism, uniting the country, promoting US-Israel relations and dealing effectively with Iran. The poll was conducted by SSRS, a research company, and is based on telephone interviews carried out August 8-28. The reported margin of error is plus or minus 3.57%.
