Turkey: Soldier shot and two injured on Iran's border

One Turkish soldier was shot to death and two others were injured on Turkey's southeastern border with Iran, after fire was shot from across the border, the Turkish Defense Ministry reported Wednesday morning.

The Turkish soldiers were patrolling a village near the border when the incident took place. The Turkish military has been waging war against the PKK Kurdish militant group in the area over the past few decades.

The circumstances leading to the incident are still being investigated.
