Turkish FM: We'll have 'a very constructive' role in ME peacekeeping

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu on Thursday promised a "very constructive and positive" role by his country in Middle East peacemaking. Speaking to reporters at the start a two-day trip to Lebanon that will include a visit to Turkish troops serving with a UN peacekeeping force deployed in the Lebanese-Israeli border region, Davutoglu said that Turkey's role in the future of the region would "be very constructive and positive in the direction of establishing (and) making ... the Middle East a region of peace , stability and prosperity." He spoke after meeting Lebanese Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri. Davutoglu also reiterated previous statements that Ankara was prepared to resume its mediation between Israel and Syria, if the two countries were ready to talk again.
