UK compensates Palestinian woman £36,000 for being held in detention center

A Palestinian woman who was previously refused asylum in Britain has been awarded £36,000 in compensation for being held in a detention center, the Daily Mail reported on Wednesday.
According to the report, Nemah Shehadeh launched her claim for damages over the 19 months she spent awaiting deportation, which she said was a breach of her human rights.
The Daily Mail stated Shehadeh is not a citizen of any state, but entered the country on Jordanian papers. In 2005, she was caught trying to leave Britain on a fake French passport and was arrested and sentenced to four months in prison and a was to be deported.
In 2008 she was flown to Jordan, but rejected on entry and so was returned to the Dungavel detention centre in Lanarkshire for 19 months until granted bail.
